Lock it down, lock it in

Lock the arms, lock the leg,

lock the elbows to the waist;

squeeze the palms,

push the thighs,

press the shin bones to your face

LOCK... YOUR... LEG!

Locked is thought of as closed off, shut down, unavailable.

As usual, the reality of the experience is exactly the opposite. In hot yoga, the harder you lock, the lighter you feel.

More open. Energized. Soaring.

Why the hot yoga lockdown? Because locking your body unleashes your power.

How to unlock your full potential?

Thank you, hot yoga, for all that I don't know

Yoga is one of the best life coaches I could ask for.

Yoga helps me tighten up not only my body, but my focus and drive. I have a lot of projects, and things I’m working on seem to flow to me - ideas, circumstances, energies and intuitive decisions - all that and much more by doing my yoga. I am in control.

But today online, I read a Meghan Currie pearl of wisdom: “The only thing we know...is that we DON’T know.” And that struck a chord with me....

You don’t need to know. You need to BE. And there’s a big difference.

Embracing non-knowing removes all the pressure of thinking you NEED to know and control.

Why diets fail...and you can succeed

Are dieters really losers? Or do people who lose weight always find it again?

Life is abundant. You get more of what you ask for.

But what if you're getting what you're NOT asking for?

Know it or not, you are always asking - deliberately or unconsciously. You don't just ask with your words, but with your focus and your emotions.

Your focus is your most powerful leverage; it's why our hot yoga room is lined with mirrors. You are honing your focus: eyes open, face forward, focus, focus, focus.

Consider your focus when you're dieting: food. As the diet progresses, you're counting calories, avoiding carbs, weighing yourself daily.

You are focused on the very things you don't want: calories, carbs, pounds. Focus, focus, focus, No wonder you get more of them.

A funny thing happened in Hot Yoga class....

"Pranayama began. I was compressing my belly exhaling, taking big balloon belly breaths. I imagined absorbing energy into my organs with each breath. In my mind, I was doing a great thing, really helping my body heal itself.

Then... I felt like vomiting

I was dizzy, nauseous, worried about how I would exit the full class without stepping on someone to get to the ladies room to throw up..."

You come to hot yoga to get toned, lose weight, loosen up, stretch out, relax, de-stress, but...

One day you fall apart.
