DIY Yoga?

I was walking out of Trader Joe's, my arms filled with grocery bags (who needs a shopping cart?) when the man ahead of me offered to hold the door. "Thanks, I've got it," I said from behind my brown paper wall.

Immediately I heard the voice in my head say, "LET HIM HOLD THE GODDAMN DOOR OPEN FOR YOU!"

"Which hot yoga poses can I practice at home?"

I love enthusiastic Riverflow hot yoga students who ask me, "Which hot yoga poses can I do at home?"

The answer: all of them - as long as you never move a muscle.

Once you have a steady, 3-times-a week hot yoga practice, you can improve all 26 of your hot yoga poses by rehearsing them in your mind.

Mental rehearsal isn't a New-Age, touchy/feely thing; it's science. Countless experiments like the one above, usually done with athletes, prove that the results can be exactly the same when you exercise your mind.

Can you pretend your hot yoga practice into perfection?

Here's the secret answer you wont hear from your teachers, parents, friends or therapists:

Do nothing. Take no action at all. Stop thinking about it. Stop talking about it. Look away from the problem.

And how is that supposed to work, you ask? In a word: beautifully. And here's why:

Retracing the Roots of a Hot Yoga Reaction

Retracements are temporary symptoms that occur during a deep healing regimen, like say, for instance, hot yoga.

Are you familiar with the healing phenomenon known as Retracement?  It means that during a deep healing, your body may literally choose to retrace/ go back/ relive those old infections, wounds, injuries, or other imbalances from the past, in order to clear them out fully this time around.

Retracing can be about eliminating toxic substances, healing chronic infections, or clearing out old emotional wounds. It results in a metabolic increase in vitality.

But you know what they say: the truth shall set you free, but first it shall piss you off. And hot yoga can piss you off big-time. Here's why:
